When traveling out of your local area, calling FSS with your cellphone may still route the call back to your home area. This can cause the automatic FSS routing to connect you to, say, Leesburg when you're actually standing on the ground in New Mexico. In that case, rather than using the universal FSS number (1-800-WX-BRIEF) you can instead call the remote FSS directly using their toll-free number on THIS LIST. Be aware, though, that some security procedures may still require that you file with Leesburg directly.
