Washington ADIZ
(Air Defense Identification Zone)

The restrictive airspace around Washington DC is being constantly altered.

The area indicated below was first defined as a result of the declared "Orange Threat Level" on February 8, 2003.
It continues to be used as the basis for varying restrictions.

There are 49 airports affected in this restricted area, but this chart shows only the 23 that are public-use. Note also that the additional 15-mile zone around Washington is also in effect with its own requirements, and a 7-mile zone may also be in effect.

Be sure to check NOTAMs and other sources for current requirements for flight in this and other areas.
